10 Tips for Preventing Lead Poisoning
  1. Wet mop twice a week.
  2. Wash children’s hands, toys, pacifiers, and bottles often.
  3. Get all children under the age of 6 tested for lead.
  4. Don't let children eat paint chips or pick at peeling paint.
  5. Take your shoes off before entering the house.
  6. Do not allow children to play in bare dirt or soil. Cover soil with grass, mulch or bushes.
  7. Feed your children a diet rich in calcium and iron.
  8. Always use cold tap water.
  9. Follow lead safe work practices when doing work on homes.
